Lip filler and dermal fillers

Lip Filler in Walnut Creek That Still Looks Like Your Mouth

Lip filler is a hyaluronic acid gel injected into the lips to add volume, restore hydration or refine the shape of the border. At Aesthetx Haus in Walnut Creek, our injectors match the amount to your lip shape rather than to a trend.

Lip filler for hydration, shape or a fuller lip

Most people who ask about lip filler in Walnut Creek want one of three things. Some want lips that look hydrated again after they have thinned with age. Some want a defined border, because lipstick has started to feather. Some simply want a fuller lip. The same syringe does all three. The difference is where your provider puts it.

The opinion that shapes every lip treatment here: the amount is rarely the problem, the placement is. A full syringe placed for shape can look softer than half a syringe pushed into the body of the lip. That is why the consultation involves a mirror and a long look at your profile before any product is opened.

The lips that get compliments are the ones nobody can identify as filled. If you want a lip that announces itself from across the room, we are probably not the right studio for you, and we will say so.

Lip filler or lip flip? A lip flip uses a small amount of neuromodulator to relax the upper lip so more of it shows. It adds no volume. Lip filler adds actual volume and shape. If your upper lip disappears when you smile but you are happy with its size at rest, start with a flip. If you want more lip, you want filler.

The appointment

What to expect

  1. Consultation

Your provider looks at your lips at rest, smiling and in profile, then tells you how much product they recommend and what the total will be. Most first-time lip clients start with one syringe.

  2. Numbing

Topical anesthetic goes on first. The filler also contains lidocaine, so the lips go numb as the treatment proceeds.

  3. Injections

Small amounts placed along the border and body of the lip, checked in the mirror throughout.

  4. Aftercare

Expect swelling for a few days, and lips swell more than most areas. Skip strenuous exercise, alcohol, blood thinners and heat such as sauna or hot yoga for 24 to 48 hours. Sleep on your back the first night if you can.

  5. Results

You see the volume immediately. The final shape settles over two to four weeks as the swelling resolves, and any small adjustment is decided after that.

Candidacy

Is lip filler right for you?

Lip filler is likely a good fit if you:

  • are at least 18
  • want more volume, hydration or definition in the lips without surgery
  • have realistic, natural-looking goals
  • are in good general health, and not pregnant or breastfeeding
  • have no active cold sore or skin infection on or around the lips

Lip filler is not right for you if you are arriving with migrated filler from a previous provider. In that case the first appointment is a dissolve, and the new filler comes later.

Cost

What affects the cost

The cost of lip filler follows the amount of product. Most first-time lip clients start with one syringe, and if your provider recommends more, you hear that at the consultation before anything is done. Every treatment includes the topical numbing. If migrated filler has to be dissolved first, that is a separate step. Your provider confirms your plan and its cost at your consultation, before any treatment is booked.

Cherry financing splits the cost into payments after a soft credit check.

Questions

Lip filler questions, answered

Still unsure? Book a consultation, and our team will answer anything this page does not.

How much does lip filler cost in Walnut Creek?

Lip filler cost depends mainly on how many syringes your lips need, and most first-time clients start with one. Your provider gives you the exact cost at your consultation, before any treatment is booked, including any dissolving of old filler. Cherry financing is available.

How long does lip filler last?

Lip filler typically lasts 6 to 12 months. Lips move constantly, so filler breaks down faster here than in the cheeks or jawline, which can hold for 12 to 18 months or longer.

Does lip filler hurt?

Not much. Topical numbing goes on first and the filler itself contains lidocaine, so most clients describe pressure rather than pain.

How long is lip filler recovery?

Plan on a few days of swelling and possibly some bruising. The first 24 to 48 hours are the most swollen, and the final shape settles over two to four weeks.

Will my lips look overfilled?

No. Your provider doses for shape and proportion, and most first-time clients start with one syringe. If you want more later, you build gradually rather than all at once.

What if I don't like my lip filler?

Hyaluronic acid lip filler is reversible. Hyaluronidase dissolves it, so nothing about the result is permanent. That safety net is a large part of why a conservative first treatment makes sense.
