Botox in Walnut Creek, Dosed So Your Face Still Moves
Neuromodulators are injectable treatments that relax the specific muscles behind fine lines and wrinkles. At Aesthetx Haus in Walnut Creek, we offer Botox, Dysport, Xeomin and Daxxify, and every treatment is dosed for balance rather than stiffness. Results settle in about two weeks and last three to six months.

What neuromodulators do
Botox, Dysport, Xeomin and Daxxify all work the same way. A small amount of product is placed into a muscle that is pulling a line into your skin, and that muscle relaxes for a few months. Existing lines soften and new ones form more slowly.
Where they differ is in how each one is formulated, how quickly it starts working, how long results last and which areas the FDA has approved it for. The comparison below sets that out product by product. Your provider recommends one based on your goals, your treatment history and what you are treating, so if a product has worn off faster for you in the past, mention it at consultation.
Compare
Botox vs Dysport vs Xeomin vs Daxxify
All four are FDA approved botulinum toxin type A injections that relax the muscles behind expression lines. They differ in formulation, how fast they start, how long they last and which areas they are approved for.
| Compare | Botox Cosmetic | Dysport | Xeomin | Daxxify |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Made by | Allergan Aesthetics, an AbbVie company | Ipsen, distributed with Galderma | Merz Aesthetics | Revance, now part of Crown Laboratories |
| FDA approved for cosmetic use since | 2002 | 2009 | 2011 | 2022 |
| FDA approved areas | Frown lines, crow's feet, forehead lines and neck bands | Frown lines, in adults under 65 | Frown lines, forehead lines and crow's feet, including all three in one session | Frown lines |
| What sets it apart | The longest track record in cosmetic use and the most FDA approved treatment areas | Contains lactose and may carry trace cow's milk protein, so it is not used for anyone with a milk protein allergy | A purified toxin without accessory proteins, approved to treat three upper face areas together, and unopened vials do not need refrigeration | No accessory proteins and no human albumin; it is stabilized with a peptide instead, and was studied for longer lasting results |
| When it starts working | Begins in 1 to 2 days and builds over the first week | Varies by person; the FDA label does not give a timeline | Median onset of 2 to 7 days | Median onset of 3 days in clinical trials |
| How long results last | About 3 to 4 months for frown lines | Up to about 4 months | Typically 12 to 16 weeks | A median of about 6 months for frown lines in clinical trials |
| FDA labeled dose for frown lines | 20 units | 50 units | 20 units | 40 units |
Units are not interchangeable. Each product is measured in its own units, so a higher number, such as 50 units of Dysport, does not mean more treatment than 20 units of Botox. Onset and duration are typical figures from each product's FDA label or its clinical trials, and results vary from person to person.
All four carry the same FDA boxed warning about the effect of the toxin spreading beyond the injection site. Your provider reviews your health history before any treatment and recommends the product that fits your goals and your face.

Cost
What affects the cost
Wrinkle relaxers are dosed by the unit, so the cost follows how many areas you treat and how many units each one needs. Lip flip and gummy smile each treat one small area. Masseter, Nefertiti lift, nose slimming and hyperhidrosis vary more from person to person, so your provider assesses the area first. Your plan and its cost are confirmed at your consultation, before any treatment is booked.
The appointment
What to expect
Consultation
Your provider maps your goals against your anatomy and tells you how many units, where, and what it will cost.
Treatment
A topical numbing agent goes on first. Injections take a few minutes and most people describe a quick pinch.
Aftercare
Stay upright for a few hours. Skip strenuous exercise for the rest of the day and do not rub the treated area. Minor swelling or a small bruise is normal and short-lived.
Results
Changes show within a few days and settle fully in about two weeks. Results last three to six months, and regular treatment tends to stretch that over time.
Candidacy
Is Botox right for you?
You are likely a good candidate if you:
- are at least 18
- want to soften fine lines and wrinkles without surgery
- are in good physical and mental health, with no medical contraindications
- have realistic expectations about a treatment that softens rather than erases
Your provider reviews your medical history at consultation and will say plainly if a neuromodulator is not the right tool for what you want to change.

Botox reviews from Walnut Creek clients
"Desiree is truly the best when it comes to Botox. I have been coming to her for about two years and she's always strategic when it comes to injecting - she will never overdo it and gives the most natural results. She is very knowledgeable and makes you feel welcomed."
"I finally found someone who actually knows what they're doing. Botox had completely stopped working for me, and I struggled to find an injector who understood proper placement and dosing. Desiree was a game changer. She knew exactly where to inject and how much to use, and the results with Dysport have been amazing."
"Desiree is super accommodating, very professional, and very sweet! I was looking to get my masseter Botox done before the new year and she was able to make room for me… She was also able to assess my needs & recommend how many units I should get as well."

How is Botox priced at Aesthetx Haus?
It depends on how many areas you treat and how many units each area needs, and for masseter or hyperhidrosis treatment, on an assessment of the area first. Your provider gives you the exact cost at your consultation, before any treatment is booked. Members get a lower Botox rate, and Cherry financing is available.
What is the difference between Botox, Dysport, Xeomin and Daxxify?
All four are FDA approved botulinum toxin type A injections that soften expression lines. Botox has the longest cosmetic track record and the most approved areas. Dysport is dosed in different units. Xeomin has no accessory proteins. Daxxify uses a peptide instead of human albumin and lasted a median of about six months for frown lines in clinical trials.
How long do neuromodulators last?
Most clients get three to six months. With regular treatment, results often last longer over time.
Does Botox hurt?
Discomfort is minimal. A topical numbing agent goes on first, and most clients describe each injection as a quick pinch.
Will I look frozen?
No. That is the opposite of the approach here. Your provider doses for balance and movement, so you look refreshed and still expressive.
When will I see Botox results?
Changes usually show within a few days, and full results settle in about two weeks.
How soon can I have another Botox treatment?
Most clients return every three to four months. Your provider recommends timing at your visit.
What should I avoid afterward?
Stay upright for a few hours, skip strenuous exercise for the rest of the day, and do not rub the treated area.
Can I finance Botox?
Yes, through Cherry. A soft credit check shows your options in minutes without affecting your score.
